Summertime

This is a response to harp-l and the chatter about Christelle's version.

I've been building a bunch of pro-class harmonicas and I thought I would take the A harp I'm building for Zvi Aranoff for a little test run.

I should have put the cover plates but oh wel... LOL

Fire away with the critques.

  • Hello Chris, it is very interesting to watch and listen to your videos. Please would you mind to tell us the software you are using for back-tracking your harp playing? I think it could be also a tremendous help for improving our playing. You show it in the video entitled A blues based intro to playing 11th position. Thank you.

  • I make the backing tracks in Band in a Box or I use Jamey Aebersold tracks.

  • how do you get that distinct jazz sound?

  • I stopped listening to other harmonica players about 15 years ago. I'm not saying I NEVER listen to them but I don't sit down and try to learn what they are doing.

I spend lots of time listening to strings, sax, flutes, guitar and bassists.

  • Incredible virtuosity and amazing approach compared to the run of the mill diatonic offerings. I pray you're in heaven Chris! Sorely missed but what a great legacy you have left us.

  • One of my favorite songs and you just made me love it a little more. Thanks.

  • Foi uma das melhores apresentações de harmonica que ja vi em toda a minha vida. Me emocionei. Parabéns.

  • Superb tone, and considering that there are no covers nor hand effects, quite amazing. Apparently other players do what they can, and Chris does what he wants :)

    Thank you for the instruction.

  • Yeah ! Chris ! Like a fiddle ! Amazing ! I love this tune ;-)

  • chrismichalek, you're a GREAT jazz diatonic harmonica player. I thank very much my friend Christian Mascret (harmonicajazz in YouTube, from France)for inviting me to see and listen to your so wonderful work. God bless.

    Greetings from Brazil!!!
