  • Hi

    I Am 3d Car Designer

Can i Ask You a question

I want to Know If i Can Do As You did But in 2d i Mean By Drawing

And Does it take to much time?

    thanks

  • @MultiMegaSpeed yeah, you can. If you are a skilled marker artist you could do this pretty much like 70% the same. The core is the foundation. The Basic sketch underneath, with correct perspective and proportion. Thats what takes a long time to learn, hard work and lost of practice. same for the marker stuff/rendering

  • @BartzConcept I only draw with pencil. I usually (if I put some effort and attention to it) make the car to look like its after photoshop with all the shades and stuff. I've heard that really it saves headaches to draw better instead of photoshop better. As a car designer, do you think it's more about STYLE, or SOLVING PROBLEMS?

  • @MrEran1996 yep, it's better to sketch better then to photoshop better. I should stress: its about good designs- clients cant care less about you came there of what technique you used. as long as the presentation and the idea is awesome you get paid. The design solves the problem - not the way you draw the design, thats a presentation aspect, which comes second. As a student you should learn how to present and come up with ideas: When a client hires you they expect you to do neat work

  • @MrEran1996 but style is also important, the techniques you develop by yourself is part of the things that sets you apart as a designer, why some people would hire you. but the term Style should also be about what insprires you to draw certain design that way, what are you infuenced by etc.look up degraaffdesign(dot)com(slash)biography(dot)html and scroll down you can see my style infuences in the left column.style matters but only if the design is good and the presentation is good.

  • this is awesome

one of the best renders ive seen

quick question, can you tell me what tools in PS you use? i myself love drawing cars but can only do it on paper. when i try to render them i get stuck in the beginning which stinks.

is there some tips that you can give me and maybe get an idea to possibly create such a masterpiece as yours. thanks in advance hope to hear soon

  • @swabs045 definately get used to making nice gradients and work well with airbrushes and apply hard edges - [essentials of ''hardsurfacing'']. but the tools really dont matter - just practise a lot and you will find the ones that make you feel comfy. to get good at design- you have to master sketching (design sketching!) on paper first. the trick is to do this stuff every day and you add that to tutorials on the internet and books and you will improve drastically. so work hard!

  • Hey bartz, quick question. You obviously are a pretty great industrial designer and even better in terms of transportation track. Do you know much about schools that offer transportation design? I am at a school called DAAP (Design, Architecture, Art & Planning. How well does this school compare to other schools out there? I feel like I'm in a good place, but wanted to know your opinion on the school, if you have one. Where did you go to school?

  • Really good work!

  • im stuck with paper and pencil so far :( but i can still draw nice cars like you just less comfortable.
