Last week, I had the good fortune to spend some time in Aarhus, Denmark, so what a great opportunity to purchase more Danish language resources!

By the way, the articles in Danish are common and neuter, not masculine and neuter as I state in the video - I tend just to speak without a script, hence the mistakes!

  • I'm from Denmark.. And i LOVE your username!! LOL!! xD

  • @CornerOfMystery Thanks! I wish I could say it properly...

  • If you know French or German, there's an excellent course by Assimil which contains a good 2 hours of solid Danish audio on CDs. The Teach Yourself course is alright, but after editing out the English off the CDs, there's only about 30 mins worth of Danish audio.

One other resource very much worth mentioning is audio books. You can get recorded literature in Danish like Harry Potter and even more sophisticated novels and things.

  • @qzchris I hadn't thought about audio books - good idea! Also, I have seen combined audio/story books for kids (i.e. to help them to read) which could be quite useful.

  • Your so lucky you live in Europe (making it easier to go to Denmark and get resources/practice). Being in Australia, there's limited resources and it's expensive to travel there :(

I'm also trying to learn danish because my grandfather was danish and it got me interested...then i fell in love with the unique language :)

  • @danazfin Yeah, I completely agree - even from the UK it can be quite expensive to travel to Denmark, plus hotel prices can be steep. Someone advised me to approach the university I work at to ask if there were any Danish students around who would be willing to help me practice. So, if you live near a university, that may be a good idea.

  • @19fas88 Everyone across there I spoke with could speak good English (even when I tried to speak Danish), and some could also speak a bit of German. They tended to act a bit surprised when I spoke Danish to them.

As for films, it's difficult to choose - I buy them on a whim rather than through reviews!

  • hey roedgroedudenfloede, i'm learning danish too. never been to denmark or met a dane. how much danish is used in denmark, especially considering you're a foreigner and learning the language? i've read conflicting things. also, what other danish films do you enjoy? denmark has great cinema, but being i'm only a beginner, i am having difficulty find good films (and novels for that matter). hope to her from you.

  • Thanks for showing good resources! Hope you get a lot of chances to speak while you are in Denmark :)
