  • Ah, classic gaming mags.

My heavy gaming period was roughly 1989-1995, so during this years, I was into all the classics...EGM, Nintendo Power, Sega Visions. I especially loved Diehard Gamefan (those gorgeous color spreads!) and had a subscription to Gamepro. A friend of mine kept me up to date with PC news with VG&CE.

As for who won the 16-bit wars, the Genesis or SNES? That's easy: They both did. Both systems rocked for different reasons.

  • May You Rest In Peace EGM, those were the best times, but now we got a pretty lame magazine company called Game Informer :(

What do they actually inform you about? Rubbish crap

  • what a fantastic video! great job guys!

You really captured the 80s and game magazines!

Wow that took me on a trip down memory lane.

  • NINTENDO POWER FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!

  • Some of the fan created stuff is better than the so called "pro" stuff IMO. I do see your point though. Another way to make some money through YouTube, providing you have a website would be to advertise the url in the video. As long as the content is interesting, you will generate traffic to your website. Providing you have some click-throughs and banners you will make something from it.

  • Well there's fans on here and people who make actual content with a site behind them Etc.

But put it this way, if you gave me a video for free and I started making money from it, but then refused to give you any because I said it wasn't good enough to give you money for it (even though I was), Wouldn't you be a little pissed off?

  • True. I have been running a video game website and have never made a cent from it. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. In fact after bandwidth costs I end up losing money to offer game box scans and other stuff. Unfortunately some of the mentioned video creators use my images without giving me credit.. some even going as far as erasing my watermark to take away any existence of my hard work. Anyway, I still keep it going because I like to share my love of gaming with other gamers. :)

  • I'm pretty sure some of these "profits" are in the pennies in some cases. Sure, pennies eventually make dollars, but still...

  • I had no idea he got paid for his vids. Interesting. I always thought people just uploaded vids on here to share. I guess I didn't realize the politics behind it.

  • Also a lot of them aren't making a profit, they're barely making ends meet.
