@lawyerly Do you have any more details on this rule? I know when I fill out a form and the form asks for which sex, the choices are "male" or "female", not "man " or "woman." I realize that in this case the words are being used as adjuctives to describe which sex, but still this is the first I have heard of it. If you see a person from afar, and you can see a dress, but not the age of the wearer, it would seem appropriate to call her a "female," rather than "girl" or "woman."
