One of the distinct features of the residence of Edward Krynicki (Director of Music, Church of the Palms, Delray Beach, FL) and John McGovern (Broward County FL, Department of Elder Affairs, LTCOP Administrator) in Boynton Beach, FL is that it houses a pipe organ - an uncommon aspect of most homes today - one of only a few in Palm Beach County,FL. During the summer of 2004 as part of their summer vacation, Ed and John assisted by John's brother Jim and a core of church volunteers at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Spring Lake, NJ, the original home of the Reuter Opus 1087 (1954), began the ambitious task of moving this magnificent instrument to its new home in Boynton Beach FL. In its original configuration at St. Andrews the organ played as a unit organ of six ranks all enclosed. The church was in the process of procuring a new electronic organ; the original curator of the instrument, Don Davett (one of the original organists at Radio City Music Hall), negotiated the exchange between the church and the new owner. The organ in its new location played for the first time on Easter Sunday 2005 and has been a source of much delight to the owner and their many musically talented friends who have given concerts on the instrument. The organ now plays in two divisions and has been expanded to ten ranks with the addition (in the swell) of a vox humana (originally a part of the Austin (Opus 794) at St Aedans, Jersey City, NJ), 4' flauto traverso (originally Austin organ opus 1148), 16' fagottto (12 pipes) and (in the great) 4' octave, 2' fifteenth, 16' metal bourdon (12 pipes).

  • Hope to hear more of Opus 1087! Looking forward to 2012 and having Opus

380 up and playing as well. God bless!!

  • @dieselheart001 Progress has been slower than expected for a number of reasons not the least of which is the move to a new console (four manual) with midi which has required a number of related changes in the installation. Making progress once again now. Will post something as soon as it is playing.

  • Nice to see a video of an organ in a house. My friend who now lives in Lady Lake FL lived next door to Joe Kearns (MR WILSON OF DENNIS THE MENNICE) on Carlos Ave in Hollywood,he had his house built around an organ. My friend heard him play many times. He lived next door when Joe passed away suddenly.

  • @kentwesterly Thankis for visiting. See also Channel: churchofthepalmsdel

  • I am the youngest granddaughter of Ferd Rassmann. My Dad was his son. I remember seeing pipe organ parts etc in his living room when I was a child. I would love to know any history or memories you have of my "Pop Pop"!!

  • @fleming1080 Sorry... but I have no personal knowledge. I know that he was mentioned in one of the posts on this video; however that comment was made in reference to the organ when it was originally installed at St Andrews - which is now over sixty years ago. The one person who may have known him personally (Don Davitt) who was instrumental in our buying the instrument, is himself now deceased. Sorry to disappoint. However, he built a very fine instrument... and it is still playing.

  • Edward and John, What a great surprise this is! As a young boy, I helped install this instrument at St. Andrew's under the watchful eye of Ferd Rassmann, the then local rep for Reuter. I'm so glad the organ has found a good home and more ranks!

  • Thanks for the reply, John! No I don't know Don personally, but his reputation is very good. Looking forward to hearing the sound in the new room. (I sure the instrument is happy to be out of the closet, er, chamber at St. Andrew's.)

  • @johnm555fl The four manual will be a real enhancement to performance. I've been wanting to step up to a three manual for 380. If I can find the right one it might make

everything go a lot easier, as far as changes... Hang in there. I don't think one ever truly finishes an organ, at least entirely to satisfaction.

  • @bhigdaddymark Thanks for writing and glad that you liked the video. Will be happy to post the stop list in the description as a matter of historical record. The organ will more than double its size in its new location thanks to the layout of the home and 14' ceilings. Do know Stuart and used to attend his programs all the time at St. Pauls (Delray). Stop by our other account "ChurchofthePalmsDel"

  • Very nice playing indeed, and I'm so happy for you that you saved this instrument and thus keeping it alive and well here in Florida! Can't wait to hear it in its expanded form. Could you post the stoplist in the description? BTW, do you know Dr. Stuart Gardner?

  • @StuartLou Hi... and thanks for visiting. This video shows the organ in our former home; we moved one year ago and we are in the process of reconstructing (and enlarging) the instrument in our new home. We have grown to 22 ranks (formerly 12). It will be many months before we are "in playing condition" once again. We will post videos; keep in touch and write again when you see the latest videos on this channel Thanks
