Yes this is very legitimate that it will happen with the fryer its very common to have this type of fire being broke out where the possibilities are quite high in such situations like the oil spilling onto the fire due to its overfill and on the other hand in-properly thawed turkey will most likely end up being on fire in a very hot oil fryer so the basics are that it is very dangerous to have the fryer as a source of cooking but no wonder it makes turkey good! everyone its your call be safe!

@pooniman1 I hope you are kidding. Last year, turkey fryers were responsible for 62 fires and millions of dollars worth of damage. I think the 20 pound turkey is worth the waste to save lives and homes.
