The Penalty w/ Live Score by Gaelynn Lea & Alan Sparhawk

Blizzard is one pissed off dude. As a child a moronic doctor amputated his legs by mistake, he grows up to be a very mad and powerful man. He's got some sweat shops that rival those in Asia. Blizzard notices an ad placed by an artist who is looking for the face of evil. Ol' Blizzard knows he can provide and it turns out that the artist is the daughter of the stupid doctor that tore off his legs. Blizzard plots to kidnap the artist's fiance, remove his legs and graft them onto his. Blizzard is played by none other than Lon Chaney. He went thru holy hell to play this role convincingly and his performance was so convincing that the studio had to shoot a short to run before the film informing the audience that Mr. Chaney did not amputate his legs for the role.


We will be presenting this film in 35mm courtesy of the George Eastman House. This is our 4th silent film/loud score by area musicians and we are happy to have Alan Sparhawk (Low, Retribution Gospel Choir) and Gaelynn Lea performing their original score live right before our very eyes and ears on October 28th 7:30, October 29th 9:30.
