Hundreds of Madison residents packed into a jammed conference room on Madison's east side Tuesday to voice their concerns and ideas about high-speed rail systems in Wisconsin.
Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk were both in attendance to support Madison residents who spoke in favor of the project.
The meeting focused on a study about the proposed passenger rail line between Milwaukee and the Twin Cities.
Officials said they hoped the meeting would allow constituents to voice their concerns about the possible routes and their environmental impacts, Charles Quandel, President of Quandel Consultants, the association heading up the study, said.
The study is working to identify the best alternative transportation routes.

@williejenkins666 By the way, no nations in ancient and modern history can progress without a diverse and effective transportation systems. Roman was left ruined because of failure of the public infrastructures. Even British has lacked behind because of their outdated transportation network (railway especially). And U.S. still have her time and chance to repair or possible diversify their public infrastructure which right now, don't have any good rate.

@williejenkins666 It is different but unfortunately, even the highway and roadway of U.S. aren't getting newer as well. Like I said, unless there are some transportation and infrastructure policy U-turn made by the U.S. Congress and senates. Otherwise, the more you argue the more you proved my point is correct.

@williejenkins666 Well, perhaps you just proved yourself to be a spoiled car and oil lobbyist while other countries try very hard to forsake these two thing that harm our environment. Well done.

@ltmikepowell How many times do I have to prove how stupid you are? TRAINS GO FROM POINT A TO POINT B!!!!!!! How many people need to go to those specific points? FEW.
High speed rail is only a viable alternative to medium-distance travel on airplanes (1 - 3 hours) and is a high-priced alternative to national bus systems...bus systems that go from one major city to another with maybe a stop in the middle in medium sized areas.
The USA's infrastructure is different than China, dummy.

@ltmikepowell Like I said, you are fucking stupid.
"High speed rail" isn't always high speed. Most people travel from point A to point B and high speed rail doesn't do that.
Dummy Doyle, the former governor of Wisconsin, was going to waste millions of bucks on the most ridiculous Madison to Milwaukee project that would be faster and cheaper by car. So why the fuck would anyone take it? For novelty? Because they lost their license because of DUI? Because they don't have a car? Fuck em + you.

@williejenkins666 So you does enjoy slow travel while don't realize that bus and highway system, mostly associated with oil (and I have serious doubt on electronic batteries for now). And those oil lobbyist hunger for your blood money, spoiled freak. And American population, are not getting smaller if I'm wrong, and bigger population means higher demand.
Unless American transportation and infrastructure policy got a U-turn. Otherwise, you just made my day for proved my comment is right.

@ltmikepowell You are a fucking piece of garbage who doesn't understand economics.
I will enjoy raking in the bucks off the idiotic policies of your lousy politicians (high demand = high prices = WOO HOO! RICH ME!)
The poor will be squeezed onto buses and the highway will be less crowded for me and my rich pals to travel on.
Go kill yourself, hippie!

@williejenkins666 By the way, spoiled freak. Enjoy paying high prices of commodities for your future generations. You deserved a spoiled living of a celebrity while the whole world is competing and developing. Really, you earned it.

@williejenkins666 So you don't think Eisenhower consider the cost of construction of Interstate Highway system and other public infrastructures, smarty? And you don't think the public infrastructures will own lands in order to build it?
Public infrastructures don't benefit or profit in the short run. It mend to benefit the FUTURE generations to progress and develop. Public infrastructures can only works when wise management is apply.

@williejenkins666 Still enjoying car rides aren't you, spoiled freak? Still enjoying to pay soaring oil prices aren't you? Still not realized how congested the American airports can be?
Not China and Europe. Well spoiled freak, time to learn and observe. American was found from learning others and then progress and develop through policy and technology ingenuity. Sadly, it's the spoiled princes and princesses took those achievement for granted which stands as the majority in U.S.
