@alexreffand I was in the military, serving for eight years in the U.S. Navy. When I was on board the U.S.S. Okinawa, a shipmate of mine was sexually assaulted by a gay man who had lied on his application. This is why the UCMJ states that homosexuality is not compatible with military service.

he says that's his opinion. But will he follow through with it? We've all seen the politician who says what ever he can to get people to vote for him and then when it comes time for them to serve, their opinions suddenly flip flop or they put the "minor" issues on the back burner. I think it's time we see someone who actually follows through with their ideas and makes the changes they say they will.

@angusmcpherson There is an insanely high incidence of rape of female personnel by heterosexual male personnel in the American Armed Forces today. Based on your argument, we should also ban straight men from military service.
