The Curse were not only Toronto's first all girl punk band but also one of Canada's first (and some would say North America's first), along with the Dishrags from Vancouver and the B Girls from Toronto. Like many punk bands starting out in 1977, the Curse learned to play their instruments as they went along. Their first single Raw/War, on which they were backed up by the Diodes, was more of performance art piece. With a resurgent interest in the roots of the Toronto punk scene, original members Mickey Skin and Patsy Poison got on stage with The Existers, another band from the day, to sing one of their more melodic songs "Shoesine Boy", the true story of a 12 year old street kid who was murdered on Yonge St. in 1978.
The Existers are:
Barrie Farrel: guitar
Dennis Rideout: bass
Scott Chapley: drums
George Higton: guitar

@smoke14me Hi, I can see how you feel about this. That was a terrible summer in 1977 when we were hearing about these crimes and I was going on fifteen myself. These crimes were unspeakable and it revolts my stomach to even consider what that poor little boy went through. This is not my favourite song by any means and not anything I'd listen to if I wanted to cheer up but I strongly believe that the band are not making light of this poor little boy's suffering.

The truth is that he was a very young boy who was taken from his family by not 1 or 2 or 3 but 4 guys who thought it would be a good idea to drug and kill him. He has lots of family who have to go through this kind of suffering day after day.......I watch it and see it while you 2 sit there and talk about something you know nothing about. How bout talk with his friends, family. they will tell you how much he is loved and always will be.
