This is the Last one I took, which was too bad, but the light was getting too low. The Polar Star actually ran into the Ice Dock at the end! I would have to have had a video of that! You should have seen the guys on the Dock scatter!

  • Sorry about the miss label. Both Icebreakers were down there that season and I just got them labeled wrong. I even have pictures with both ice breakers in the same picture. One taking on fuel and the other one breaking ice in the channel.

  • That's the Star not the Sea! WAGB-10. I was on Her for Operation Deeep Freeze 98 and Arctic Summer '99.

  • Really? my dad was stationed on her for operation deep freeze 02,03, and 04. he was the DCC. have you heared anything about her? last i heard she was having engine problems.

  • Thats not the Polar Sea. That is WAGB-10 the Polar Star. See the 10 on the bow and stern. I was stationed on her from November of 1997 untill June of 1999. Brings back some memories.
