Urban Lighting Seminar, organised by Schréder. Interview with Roger Narboni

Every year, Schréder organises more than 10 seminars. These seminars address all aspects of exterior lighting. Lighting is a matter for experts. Schréder has this expertise, and seeks to share it with customers and build upon their customers knowledge. Guest experts are regularly invited. Here, we present Roger Narboni, an international lighting designer who is well-known for his expertise in urban lighting. Roger Narboni expresses his concerns regarding sustainable development in urban lighting. He believes that a thoughtful lighting design is the basis for sustainable lighting. Sustainable lighting is accomplished not only by using energy efficient lamps, optimising luminance, and recycling luminaires, but also through educating people on thoughtful lighting practices. His international experience has shown him that environmental concerns are being raised all around the world, but with different priorities. For Roger Narboni, better lighting is lighting that first and foremost respects people and their lifestyles, so that they can reclaim their use of nocturnal space. This is what constitutes successful lighting plans.
