The Great Primate Handshake visited The Jane Goodall Institute Chimpanzee Eden.
Chimp Eden is set on a 1000 hectare game reserve, JGI Chimpanzee Eden is a home to chimpanzees that have been misplaced from their natural habitat. The world renowned Jane Goodall Institute has made this tranquil venue their South African sanctuary and has committed itself to the rescue and care take of chimpanzees in need of refuge.
Chimps like other Great Apes (Gorillas and Orang Utans) are finding an ever growing interest from the public, as they are the closest relatives to Human Kind and they are facing a quick extinction in their natural habitat.
In 2008 Chimp Eden became the subject of a successful TV series on Animal Planet called Escape to Chimp Eden.

So glad to see this video of Chimpanzee Eden. The second series starts in April 2009, and all are hopeful that many more will realize the threat to these primates, and the tremendous need to support this effort in SA-to rescue, rehab and return to the wild! Thank you so much for providing this video!

150 thousand chimps left. The numbers are alarming. I'm so glad that there are people that want to find a solution for this crisis.
