Seems like yesterday! I loved all those guys.....they were like big brothers to me...but now most of them are gone. Great memories! And Yes, Art Ford was a prince of a guy, and loved jazz. I was by far the youngest of the group, and now at 82, playing 8 nights a week here in Houston (NYC without the stress). Life is good!

The Art Ford Jazz Parties are surely amongst the 'Crown Jewels' of jazz on film. When is someone going to clean these gems up and put them out on DVD?.Many of the greatest names in Jazz were still alive and feature on this wonderful series. These programmes are among the most important in Jazz history.Virtually beyond compare. Thanks for this classic posting!!

"ART FORD'S JAZZ PARTY", originating from Newark's Mosque Theater, aired weekly [Thursdays, 9-10:30pm(et)] from May through December 1958 on WNTA-TV, Channel 13 {a commercial broadcasting station at the time}. These are highlights from one informal session in the fall of 1958....
