Making rope out of yarn. You can use any type of string to do this. I recomend using three different colors of yarn/string to really show the construction of the finished rope. All three yarns/string should be the same diameter.
That is a very good question. I don't know. Originally I had thought I would get one of our school groups to do some scientific study to find out which was stronger. Twisted, or untwisted with a single strand tested as well. It would be interesting to find out. If you do let me know
If you can separate ends of the cords or yarns in to three yarns then you can do a short splice. A little tricky with out being shown how to do it. there are many books out there on how to do it though. Short splice is the technique.
I would rather know HOW to make it myself. Self sufficient and all.

I love doing this. It's a great way to fill up spare time.
Also makes great handles to have on the ends of glow sticks, if you only do it with a few pieces of string.

Say you have 2 short pieces of cord or yarn. too short to tie together. How do you splice them together to make a longer piece? Do you know?
