Ye Gaskell Occasional Dance Society sponsors Victorian ballroom dances several times a year. There are afternoon dance lessons and refresher lessons before the dance. Formal dress.

  • It´s the well-known folk-dance Varsovienne, known throughout Europe. There is indeed a version by Johann Strauss the Elder, one of his first compositions at all (Opus 10), but the tune came from Leipzig, ca. 1690 (!), when Saxony and Poland were united under August the Strong.
