The pictures show the life of local peasants in a village in SiChuan province, China.

Despite China's strong and sustained economic growth, poverty is still widespread, especially in remote rural areas. Income inequalities between eastern and western China have risen, and the income gap between rural and urban residents has widened considerably since the late 1970s. Urban incomes are now more than three times higher than rural incomes. The government is taking serious measures to correct this trend by increasing investments in rural areas, especially in infrastructure, irrigation, education and health. These investments aim to create a balanced well-off society through economic and social development.

  • I want to make a point that this video is indicating the economic disparities in China. Poverty has many negative effects, some of which are not necessarily materialistic as some have pointed out. The most important is the limited access to education, healthcare, political rights, and a clean standard of living. No one wants to live in hardship, and with poverty, it makes those affected more vulnerable to the injustices of corruption and greed. So, please become educated and help end poverty.

  • @TheCanniball74 50 million are homeless? BS, why are you making up numbers?. The poverty rate is 15%, highest since the 1930's and that's 46 million. Majority of the people under the poverty line are not homeless and have disposable income. Alot of your numbers are made up from nowhere.America's standard of living during the worst times are still much higher than China's during this boom.

  • No matter what china is doing great on reducing poverty. I don't know what was the intention of this video but china deserve admiration on reducing p[poverty. NO one has done this before.

  • Turn that sad music down. And look. Looks to me like everyone there is doing something, carrying something, etc. That looks like a bunch of busy people. And those animals and fruits and vegetables, that means there is food there. Poverty? Doesn't look like it to me. Turn the sad music off and watch the video again.

  • Today now is 2011, Chinese speed just increditable, Gorvmt built 10 million apartment for z poor per year, next 2 years will build 25 million apartment more.

    Gorvmt pay 70, 80 to 90% rent supplment to the poor, amazing

    At least, there has no tent cities in China, even rural area in China, life are vastly improved, i saw many videos that confirmed my finding, China gorvmt is far better then the west, Do ur search, its true !!! no kidding

    You have a very warped idea of what China is really like. Have you been to China? Go there and see for yourself instead hearing nonsense from others.

  • Hard and shitty conditions? Yes.

    Poverty? No.

    Poverty would be something like:

    v=DJjJ5WB3izg

    Living in hard conditions in a 3rd world country is different from poverty. This video doesn't show poverty.

  • china has all kind of evil things, so many death camp, secret police, etc etc,,,,,,,china is most hell place in the world, communist kill their against people without any permission necessary, chinese communist party killed historical amount of people, china is perfectly lawless zone for anythings
