CARE International's Historic Candy Drop

2009 marks the 60th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift. CARE was part of the celebrations in Berlin. Working with the Berlin Air Service CARE organised a candy drop in memory of the candy dropped into the blockaded city 60 years ago. CARE was the only aid organisation flying in CARE-packages with their own chartered planes. More than 200,000 of the CARE-packages, which became famous in Germany and a synonym for humanitarian aid, were brought to the starving Berliners.
