Trent from Kosmic Sound's PA department gives us a brief overview of Dynamic vs Condenser microphones and shows us a great entry level vocal mic for live applications, the Samson Q7.

This mic offers great value for money and is perfect for karaoke, bands in the rehearsal room and people looking for a live sound solution on a budget.

  • Can it be used for recording vocals? and what micstand is he using?

  • @A3BeatsProductions You can use it to record vocals and although there are better options available, if you're on a budget the Q7 is a pretty good way to go. The mic stand is a K&M straight stand.

  • I have this mic and used it to record. becuz i didnt no better but now i know. i need a condenser mic for recording tracks off of sony music acid

  • @XxFUIRiONxX yoou could try getting a jack converter and recording straight into the mic/line in on the laptop itself, but I'd say try and get a USB or Firewire soundcard such as the Tascam US122 MK2 if you're on a budget (fairly quiet inputs and easy to use, comes with cubase 4 LE too) that way you can run the Samson into the laptop no problem whatsoever !

  • Can you connect it to a laptop and record from there?
