SJ Teachers Try Out Video Game Tech In Classroom

It turns out the technology developed for video games may have some serious applications in the classroom. Teachers in the Alum Rock School District are trying out a motion sensing wireless handheld controller, just like what is used in the popular Nintendo Wii video game.

For the first time, teachers are free to roam the classroom. With the controller, they can open a lesson, highlight text even spotlight something important with just a flick of the wrist. Superintendent Jose Manzo said it's the outgrowth of a partnership with Movea, a Milpitas-based startup that developed the technology for Nintendo.
