Wish I had morew money. Im still riding my 99 SRX piped and ported old school two stroke triple. Heavy as FUK> But now I got my 16 inch wide track on it it still takes me places I like to go. I m only pushing 150 horse but still pretty good if you can ride. Man I need an R1 turbo soon.
Stock vs stock, in my experience, 2-strokes will be faster, 4-strokes will have more torque. Introduce BOOST to a 4-stroke, and you can build the engines stronger, but most importantly, more reliable than a 2-stroke. The turbo 2-strokes are wicked fast off the line and keep up with the boosted 4-strokes in a drag race, but I have yet to "see" a turbo 2-stroke beat a turbo 4-stroke in a "free-ride" climbing contest. The 4-strokes make more horsepower. I have a "wimpy" turbo 4-stroke at 280hp...
One more VERY important note. 4-strokes are much heavier! But, with that kind of power, once you hit the throttle the weight issue goes away and now your just trying to hang on! :o)
buddy of mine has a 08 dragon turbo...dynoed at 295hp he was at the big dawg shoot out beat 3 4 strokes apex's turboed and then had problems with his sled and such ended up he coudnt qualify his sled was running terrible after that but i bleive he would have won if his sled ran right... his sled is amazing (when it runs right).
A friend of mine just bought a Dragon. Next stop is the turbo shop. I can't wait to see it run. I've heard good things about the boosted Polaris 2-strokes.
