What happened in GB? Distance running never had much interest or coverage in the States, we might have a decent runner here and there by accident, but it was such a focus in GB for decades, culminating with a super series of middle distance runners in the 1980's. But now it seems as if there's little interest in the sport at all. Anyone know why?
Scott was out of it in this race, dead legs. He and John Walker and a few others used to run far too many races instead of picking and choosing.
Luck on Scott's side - I think you must mean that at least one of the british trio managed to avoid illness/injury in the two years when he could have won a big race - 1983 and 1984.
If I remember Coe had a real limited season, did like a 1:44 800 and not much else. Scott was good but didn't seem to have luck on his side when it came to the big ones. Over the mile, he is still one of the fastest none steroid runners around!
Was this the year that Scott beat Coe when Coe was still suffering from glandular fever? Scott was a good miler but just unfortunate to live in the Coe/Cram/Ovett era and I think he won nothing of any importance.
this is 1000meters......why does it say 1500

Too short for Scott. This was Scott's best year and Cram still beat him.
