Hmm so a rudimentary explanation would be that out of the six sides of the cube only 3 could be coded at one time. This is because at any given orientation, the coded message being displayed would be horizontally perpendicular to the other two codes making it visible and the other two invisible. Simple and beautiful. Time to power up the old CNC ;).

This is so smart. It's like a really good musical arrangement: the thought behind it is so simple that any one of us, after having experienced it, can say that we can also make one ourselves. But to come up with an idea that is so rudimentary? Not to mention the perfection of execution. It's almost genius.
