Had a good friend that worked production test flight '69-78' on those out of KICT. It's going to be a missed airframe...love the LR-23/24 engines in those! Makes for a good low pass!

First time I've seen one fly. Performs much better than I'd imagined. The takeoff acceleration was ridiculous.
I flew in one of these in Viet Nam and I was also impressed at the very short take off roll !

I don't know why everyone is surprised by the short roll out. These little planes had a dry weight of approx 6,220 lb and a max takeoff weight of 14,000 lb. Roughly translated the little brick sh&%house could carry more than double it's dry weight in fuel and armament. I am sure without being loaded down with bombs and bullets these little guys would be a blast to fly.
