@marcohorowitz8 hahahaha!!! just looking at that "bust" I´m pretty sure it was a woman turning pages...but...good guess! That was probably his sister!

Heard him play this live in Rotterdam ages ago. A memorable finish to a memorable concerto.

is that Emanuel Ax turning pages?

Very, very disappointing performance...

artist genius

He broke one string of the piano, while playing this. Really.
-
are you serious? Have you ever heard Rachmaninov, Horowitz, early Richter, Gilels etc. recordings?

This agogique is so good. And the voices are divided even better. Bravo, very particular fine quality even out of extreme brillance of virtuosity.

The Opus is called Oriental Fantasy; Islamey was suggesting oriental chords, tonalities and rhythms; hidden oriental scales. He got his inspiration from a Lezghinka song. Lezghinka ballads are danced by Georgians, Circassians, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Karachays, Mountain Jews, Terek Cossacks etc. The piece also has Tartar influence. Pogorelich is the ONLY performer I have heard that brings to his interpretation those Oriental tonalities and rhythms...Kudos for Ivo!

Of all the interpretations, I come back and back and back to this one.
Don't ask me why. How do I describe total satisfaction?
