The year of living musically

David Strackany says he's not breaking any new ground with his yearlong project, a daily songbook. Writing and recording 365 songs in 365 days is simply his spin on an exercise regularly practiced by poets and teenagers who jot down their thoughts in a diary. He says the fact that he's traveling all over the country merely makes the experience more interesting.

On Thursday -- Day 304 on Strackany's calendar -- he stopped in Fresno to play on Tokyo Garden's six-act lineup. We caught up with the ambitious 25-year-old the night of his gig to document a fraction of his odyssey.
