  • You remember my petition, thank you very much I really appreciate. It was worth to wait.

I have Kleiber´s recording in which Bernd Weikl is Falke but I think Luxon is even better.

And what is there left to say about Hermann Prey? Only that HE IS THE BEST!!!

  • Of course I remembered, sorry about the delay though.

I love everything in this operetta it's always a pleasure to share ;)

  • The best of the bests!

    I love this duet

    Big thank you thecelticinme!!!

  • I wish there were more of Benjamin Luxon on YouTube...and everywhere else. This superb performer had one of the most beautiful and elegant voices around. His clarity of tone and effortless singing has rarely been equaled.

  • Wunderbar - Ben is excellent and Hermann, simply magnificent - one of the all time greats.

  • Benjamin Luxon and Hermann Prey singing together...there is nothing more one could ask for. They were always favorites of mine. And Luxon can do a perfect cartweheel!

  • So this production is in...Germlish?

  • I love this operetta. Thanks for sharing. I remember this was shown on tv many years ago when we still had arts on tv... both Benjamin Luxon and Hermann Prey are fantastic. Absolutely delightful.

  • I was once in an opera with Rachel Luxon (as was), and this elderly deaf old man came to many of the rehearsals. It was only after we had exchanged polite pleasantries at the First night Party - him reading my lips - that someone told me it was Benjamin Luxon, our leading lady's father. By then he was surrounded by sycophants, and I never got the chance to ask him a leading question to which the answer was that I was the best baritone he had ever heard. Probably just as well.

  • I keep returning here to listen to Benjamin Luxon. He was always my favorite baritone! Thank you so very much for posting!

  • @tubalooney He certainly is a treasure! I always preferred him to Thomas Allen, too.

  • How delightful to find this video with Benjamin Luxon and hermann Prey, two of the best baritones ever! They work so beautifully together here. Didn't know Luxon was that athletic, though.

  • @redhead529 , I agree! All Luxon, All the Time would be terrific!!!
