The band has got some pitch issues, but the soloist is good.

First piece I ever played with my youth wind orchestra in 2005. I was 15 and played 3rd clarinet, and it wasn't that easy, I'd only been playing for 3 years! Soloist was 3 yrs older than me. We all fell in love with him, including my teacher! XD

I am playing this for my senior recital this year. I have been aspiring to play it for almost 4 years since my instructor played it with our wind symphony! Its my favorite modern clarinet piece!!

I discovered this via an Andy Firth recording. All comments are personal. Compare the two :
Her playing is rigid; her sound is poor; her body moves, but not always in rhythm.
AF is just the opposite.
However, if I had to invite one or the other for a drink, she (who ?) would probably have my preference.

Wish I could play like her!

thanks. i like this concerto!

Her name is Hsu Ching-Wen.
the begining was kinda off, i guss.....it disturbs me how she heads straight to those high notes....like the realy low note to a, i think a high d.....what people usualy do is to focus on those high notes and not connect to the next note or be late......KINDA what she did here....just keep this contant jumprope in your head(rhythm). and plz don't practice with a metronome......but either way.....the whole thing was a plesent thing to listin to =).....lil craky in the end noe huh? =D

well, the picture is actually suffering a little time delay. it doesn't match the sound.. I can't fix it but the original one is better..
I think the way she moved just maked the show more dramatical. it's a bit over, but in a good way. :)
I'm glad to hear that u like this piece of the music.
And a very thanks for writing this comment. :D
