Funny Monty Python sketch with a striking resemblance to $cientology.

  • John Cleese, Graham Chapman, and Eric Idle attended Cambridge University, while Terry Jones and Michael Palin attended Oxford University. John Cleese studied law and Graham Chapman is qualified as a doctor. Eric Idle studied English, Terry Jones is a political commentator, Michael Palin is a travel documentarian, and Terry Gilliam studied political history in college.

This is why British comedy is better than American comedy.

  • I was in a crackpot religion once, but we ran out of pots.

  • @AndrewP222 Not anymore, he isn't. Gave up his citizenship :P

  • @abchandler4 But he WAS in the group, and according to the other Pythons, a very important part. And he's American.

  • @thecompton01 Because he (by his own admission) was the least talented actor in the group.

  • @AndrewP222 yes, but he played the most minor role of all of the pythons, making cartoons and appearing occasionally in sketchs. originally he wasn't even considered to be part of the group.

  • @tbcfrankee Terry G is an American.

  • @tbcfrankee I think that's exactly why it's not better. I have tremendous respect for Monty Python, but Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Bill Hicks and Richard Pryor etc. are still superior in my mind exactly because they are knowledgeable misfits and lowlife iconoclasts, and not part of any elitist world of academia. That's certainly not the only reason, however.

  • Looks like a lot of real-life religions I could name.

  • "I've got one already!"

    *Strangles*

    XD

  • oh my god. David Tennant is Eric Idle.

  • You cant categorise comedy in "American" or "British" like most people do. I think " Curb your enthusiasm" are extremely different from " Its always sunny in philadelfia" just like "Little britain" is with "The office". Comedy is very individual and its more about talent then education. Sure, its fun when the comedians are smart, but many american comedy writers have gone to Yale and Harvard and i´m NOT talking about stupid sitcom writers. But yes, the best comedy is from Britain
