Nice guitar. Trick regarding brittle plastic machine heads (thanks Dan Erlevine from StewMac) Dip the machine heads (one at a time...) in thin superglue - hold it there until no more bubbles comes out.
Let it dry...it should now be stronger and ok to use again.

got one just like it..well, almost "Selmer by Hofner". If it has a serial no. you can trace the year...mine is '64.
Plastic on mahcine heads has gone v. brittle...one already broken. Any tips to replace/protect them?

@picklick1 Nice tip above. I would just replace the machine heads tbh. I hate bad MH's. It costs about £30 - 50 for a set and it isn't too hard to do. You must order a set that fits and you must order appropriate metric / imperial MH's. Good luck!
