@bvestationfan I never said the i7 could be matched nor nething about 980 vs opteron, which means your pickin a fight.
As far as OCing goes, AMD overclocks just fine, I dont understand why intel fan girls (yes girls, for starting, or trying to start, drama) choose to compare product vs product when one costs over 800 dollars less. If you compare products in the same price range, amd beats all intel that match the same price.
Sure intel holds the flagship, who cares. Price is whats important.

@bastec666 Nothing from AMD can really match an Core i7. The X6 only matches the Core i5 7xx. Take a look at the benchmarks. AMD does give more bang for the buck, but Intel is already ahead of the game with 32 nm and developing 22 nm. AMD can't OC as well as Sandy Bridge (got to 5.2 ghz stable with a Corsair H70), no AM3 boards have UEFI featured either. Intel is overpriced, but their stuff performances much much better. An 980x pwns any Opteron from AMD

can you tell me how you know if the processor you buy fits in your computer? plss anyonee

I have an Intel Quad Core i7 920 but I choosed it only becuse I have only been using Intel CPU. Next time I might buy an AMD processor.
-
All results that ive seen with comparisons show that 920 beats 965 in every test besides a few games. AMD seems to come on top ins a few games because it is more compatible with the testing rig. (ati and amd are together)

I will probably be flamed by amd fanboys, but i 920 has better performance over the 695, thats why it costs more as well. It has 8 thread hyper-threading if you are able to utilize the eight threads (rendering) then it is waaayyyyyyyy faster and woth the money.

200 dollars for the core i5. 2.66ghz, 8mb L3 cache, 45nm and 95watts.
200 dollars for the AMD phenom II 955, 3.2ghz, 6mb L3 cache, 45nm and 125watts.
Right now, yes, intel has the lead, but also remember, that the i5 is a reworking of the i7, making it a second gen i7. The AM3 has yet to get a second gen in the series. FOR NOW, the i5, at 200 dollars, is the best bang for your buck. But what will AMD bring to the table for its second gen of the AM3?

intel is overpriced and always will be. I wont say they are worse than AMD, but they are way to expensive. i920 for 280, amd 695 for almost 20-40 bucks lower, and gives the same performance. its all about price, what YOU can get with YOUR budget. Most of the time, AMD is cheaper, and gives you more bang for your buck.
