We've been wanting to ombre a shirt for a while and decided to make a tutorial for you guys. We suggest using a cotton shirt if you want brighter color and a silk or polyester shirt for a more faded look. We used the same technique for the cotton shirt. For the third shirt we used the same sunburst dye effect used in our D.I.Y dyed shorts video. Also always remember to be careful when working with hot water.

What you will need:
- Clothing dye
- A shirt
- Salt
- Hot water
- Large container (an aluminum bowl would be best so it won't stain)
- Rubber bands
- Plastic Gloves
- Spray bottle filled with cold water

Hope you all enjoy and try it out at home. Leave a video response if you make one and show us how it turns out.

XOXO
Steph & Melissa

  • Where did you get your white shirt you're wearing while dying the clothing? It looks so cozy!

  • @GirlAndStarlighters At Sears! :)

  • Does the dye stain the washing machine?

  • @hyistarz Not that I know of, most dyes are meant to be used in the washer if you're planning on doing big loads of clothes.

  • where can i buy clothing dye?

  • @Yasb00b444 We bought ours at Walmart because it was cheaper than at the craft store. Any craft store should have it, even the grocery store sells it, but it will probably be more expensive there.
