MBARI researchers Bruce Robison and Kim Reisenbichler used video taken by unmanned, undersea robots called remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to study barreleye fish in the deep waters just offshore of Central California. At depths of 600 to 800 meters (2,000 to 2,600 feet) below the surface, the ROV cameras typically showed these fish hanging motionless in the water, their eyes glowing a vivid green in the ROV's bright lights. The ROV video also revealed a previously undescribed feature of these fish--its eyes are surrounded by a transparent, fluid-filled shield that covers the top of the fish's head.

This video is narrated by senior scientist Bruce Robison.

  • '... or to avoid being captured by scientists.' haha, nice touch!

  • @kkflyguy87 the arguments you're using are very bad ones that have been spread around by people who have no idea what they're talking about. Thermodynamics does not go against evolution, no scientist has any reason to "lie" about evolution, evolution is COMPLETELY OBSERVABLE and nothing about it says that there's no God, just that species come into being through a physical means just like you had to be born genetically from your parents.

  • I have that fish in my ten gallon fish tank "DD

  • @kkflyguy87 you realise evolution is beleived in by many christians meaning that you talking about god makeing them is a bad argument even too a christian and a good example is myself.

  • @Scythemantis Some people interpret portions of Abrahamic scripture as actually references to evolution, most of the scientific community in Europe was composed of monks in the past, and much of the science that started the "enlightenment period" of Europe came out of translations of translations of Greek philosophers and works inspired by them from Muslims that had translated the works into Arabic long before anyone else did.

  • sad fish? lol
