StrayCloud is correct, one of the hardest things Jesus said was those what will him must DENY SELF and Pick UP Your Cross and Follow HIM if your to be HIs Disciple. God's will is stated in the Bible, anyone can claim they are doing God's will but it doesn't mean they are. And you said it correctly, "a number of persons bound together by common social standards and interests. Christianity's standards and interest is clearly shown in the Bible, so those who dont follow this standard is not acting as a Christian should. "Christian" is a title easily obtained, but difficult to meet its standards and people end up trying to change it to suit themselves.

its sad that that's the perception of Christianity shown to the rest of the world. to be part of a group does not mean your actions define the group but rather it is conform to that groups standard. the crusade was the dumbest thing i have ever heard for, but it was lead but unbelieving people using the faith of uneducated people to gain land and money. we are told to forgive and preach with gentle patients, those who do no do that, only "claim" to be christian.
