Snowboarding in the mid 80's..

This video was ripped from a crappy 20-year old vhs-tape, so sorry for the poor quality! Long story short, in the mid 80's we hit the mountains with our skis and snowboards, and had just the best times.. Just a couple of these snowboards were professionally fabricated, most were built by ourselves. We windsurfed until the snow came along, then we snowboarded all winter.. This clip was recorded apx 1986, in Hårskallen in Levanger, Norway.
We still are the Trones Surfers :-)

Vi surfe i Tronesbukta - mest mellom bjørga - røra - trones, men å på baksia av Trones - mot Aker & Skånes. Avhengig av vindretning. Men altfor sjelden d bles nok..

That's right. The music was added in 1987. "Here I go again", "crazy, crazy nights" and "Is this love?" were all hit songs from 1987. So this was probably recorded the winter of 86/87. Check out the boards - swallowtails. We even experimented with fins - remember - we were surfers :-) We built bindings of aluminum, and strapped ourselves on.

This is very Cool. I started Boarding back in 85 or 86. We were not allowed on Ski hills and my first snowboard was a plastic mogal shaped just like the ones on here.I still ride and i am a Level 1 instructor. This video brings back so many memories Great video thanks for shearing with us.

I learned to snowboard in 1988 and those style boards required you to lean more forward than the new ones to crank them. It is fun telling kids that I learned to snowboard over 20 years ago! Before they were allowed on ski hills.

Sweet! Totally radical! We used to do little video shoots like this up on Mount Ranier at paradise! I completely remember the 1990 goodwill games that were held in the Seattle area and that summer there were so many tourist watching us up at Paradise and so many foriegners just blown away by the snowboard concept! Great to be a part of! Love the swallow tails!
