This line rings hauntingly true, she turn around to leave him & the it dawns on her, "It was you my love, you are the stranger" Damn, Leonard is right on- woman fall in love with hopeless men, trying so hard to give them love or shelter... but in the end its ourselves that is the real stranger, because if we loved ourselves in the first place we wouldn't be hurting ourselves through the quest for a hopeless unatainable love. Its a cohen sorta day*

Such a beautiful song. But I guess that's the most obvious thing anyone could say about it.

Winner, you have the answer for all men, you who know the kernel of truth behind the bleating of these goats of poets, these dealers in words, mere words-you have it all sussed, your perfect perspective is beyond the grasp of YouTube listeners...go forth and proclaim the true truth..

So all poets are whiny and full of self-pity? Jealous much? Pick up a pen and a guitar and see what you vomit out.

No he is projecting your self-pity and whininess on to the listener that is why they buy his tunes. Loser.

will everyone please get off my back. I know 1967 wasn't a few years ago. I made a mistake and addressed it above. Let it die now, please. Thank you.

Leonard and Joni Mitchell. Joni writes that he influenced her in writing Marcie. Our culture is crashing. Teach these songs to our children...
