This is the Nordberg cross compound two-stage air compressor built 1913, used 1918-1982 at the Allis Chalmers plant in LaPorte, Indiana. It was relocated to Charles City Iowa's Cedar Valley Engine Club in 1982.

  • It was used as an air compressor for many years at a tractor manufacturing facility. The compressed air was used to run power tools all over the factory. In the 1970s, it was taken offline and modern air compressors were put in its place. These modern devices were not as efficient and were prone to breakdowns, so they fired this ancient beast up again and it ran until the factory closed.
