  • not really sure how 'autobiographical' the Sixth actually is; the suicide thing is wrong because cause of death was cholera most likely from a bad glass of water. Other letters and correspondences surrounding the 1893 premiere, as well as remembered comments from contemporaries, indicated Tchaikovsky was at a peak rather than a valley in the writing and performance of this symphony - the untimely death just lighter fuel for tragic rumors
