Dang, Finally someone vents this opinion. No doubt it's for real, but it also raises questions. Like: Why do people like main stream music so much? Ok, it's about taste, but how can someone like main stream music that much? Mainstream music is (95 percent of the time) not innovative. It's all the same, isn't that boring?
Oh and I don't need dancing bimbo's, gangster bling or whining people about broken love to enjoy music!! Good music defines itself by not needing all that crap build around it!
holy shit why can't people just GET OVER the fact that not everyone has the same tastes in music? people listen to justin bieber because thats the age when anything done by an artist your age sounds good and is hip. i was in 5th grade in the 90's. i listened to hanson brothers and spice girls and matchbox 20. i LOVED it. don't tell me that had "absolutely nothing to do with sounding good" because it most certainly did. quit bitching about everyone in the world not having your style. fuck..
You're generalizing a bit, but all the same, it's actually true that within the independent music community there are a lot of really good artists in practically every genre that aren't very popular (at least in comparison to mainstream). That's not to say all mainstream is bad, but that there is music that is actually better and therefore that is (at least for the most part) not why it gets so much attention.
@satay71 yeah I also dont agree with Pogo here... Mainstream music is there cuz alot of people just like it. Sorry but if you would throw pogo's triphop through mainstream I dont think every1 would like it.
What could happen though is that the formula are essence of a new genre of music is infused into mainstream so its more accesseble. Look at dubstep now a days or that jamie woon guy
I don't fully agree. It’s more about exposure to a wider audience.
Yes there are always trend followers, but i think when music is pumped through mainstream channels, it’s more likely to fall on the ears of somebody who likes it, who previously may not have had the chance to hear that music.
Just because Bieber and Coldplay have had success through mainstream, it doesn't mean they have the same audience. It’s not fair to judge peoples tastes just because of how they discovered their music.
why I hate, "today's hit music"
