So, One of The Guys is saying "He's a Russian"? is that the Secrit Message? The Marx Brothers were Lucky to get the correct WRITTEN Lines correctly; they would not have thought of puting in "Subliminal" Messages. They were thinking about geting the Scene done properly.

It sounds as if they just filmed the Marx Bros saying something and then reversed it for the movie.

Hmm, the aviator characters have a Greek name; I have it in my head that they are supposed to be Russian. But, yes, the image is of Italo Balbo - who was respected and popular in America at the time. Chico's send up is Chico doing his thing as he always had - his character a somewhat shrewd Italian immigrant and a good guy.

And this film is a nod to Italian music and culture. At times stereotypical but well meant and warm. 1935 - not much propaganda, yet.

@Limppaa what he is trying to say is they just mucked around...if you've read any books about them, they didn't follow anything, they changed their routine every time so it was never the same. Plus they were lazy (well not in sync) so they were LUCKY if they even got started on time, too lazy to write hidden messages--which they would've forgotten anyway since they were true vaudevillians and just got up and tried to get a laugh.
