http://Herzig-Eye.com Some patients are not good candidates for laser vision correction because their corneas are too thin or their cornea has a structural weakness that makes it not safe to operate on the cornea. These patients do very well with insertion of whats called an ICL, which stands for an Implantable Collamer Lens. And this is a very fine lens thats put into the patients eye through a very small incision and results in virtual perfect vision on the day after their surgery. Any patient that has a level of myopia or nearsightedness thats over ten diopters should not have laser correction. Putting an ICL in is a much safer procedure. And sometimes even at lower levels of nearsightedness, going down to seven or eight diopters of myopia, it is safer to do the ICL procedure then it is to do a laser vision correction procedure.
