@zsianz1 Thanks! I'll definitely try this!

chloe(my dog) keeps giving me her other paw which is nearer, so she never ends up crossing her paw, any tips? =)

Thanks for the tutorial! I just have a question. I've been trying to teach Luna this, but whenever I start to cross the post-it-note to the other side, she just uses the other paw to touch it. I have only been clicking when she uses her left paw, but she keeps hitting it with the right paw as i move it over. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

@LunatheMutt When she hits with her right paw, hold the target away and wait for 3-5 seconds, do not speak or indicate that it was wrong and then offer her the target again SLIGHTLY less far over her right paw, repeat this until she touches with her left paw and jackpot with the treats when she does. repeat in the same position 3 times and only move on when she does it every time. now more the target a tiny bit further over and jackpot if she uses her left paw. repeat 3 times and then continue.

how do u teach them to touch tho?

@tigercub995 take a look at my "high five clicker style video" that covers paw targeting. The idea is that you show a dog a treat and then place it under a lid or something and then your dog should paw at the lid to get the treat and the second it does you click and then remove the lid for them to get the treat.

Great video! But how did you go from "touch" the tape to "touch" without the tape?

@frosty73usa hey, I have learnt a lot since making this video and trained a few dogs to cross their paws now and I believe the easiest way is to train them to target a post-it note and then reduce the size of it a little at a time. you can take a look at my "high five clicker style" video for more info on this :-) otherwise just wait for your dog to target the object a few times and then move the object quietly away and see if your dog still offers the cross.
