(www.briansack.com) I wrote a satirical piece about this commercial over ten years ago. Imagine my surprise when the actress in it emailed me from South Africa where it was shot. She'd NEVER SEEN her spot - a spot which was a cult classic and spoofed galore, including a Foo Fighters music video. The poor girl had been searching for this spot for over a decade. I thought this was terribly unfresh and searched high and low to no avail. Things looked bleak. Eventually I reached out to friends in high places looking for any way to locate a copy. An advertising friend (now renown for writing the GEICO Caveman ads) found the spot. Though the quality belies its age, I made a nice South African actress very happy. A very Mentos ending indeed.

Also, I THINK the idea behind the commercial goes like this:
When he's in such a rush he neglects to take a little human consideration and move out of her way, he wasn't playing it "fresh" or "cool." When she got the idea to get some "help" it was all hers-but Mentos gave her the cool confidence to execute the plan. When they move the orange car, the guy in the shop get's scared they'll tear his car up in retribution-but seeing the Mentos. he know's everything'll be fine-no ill feelings.
I haven't seen these commercials in YEARS. I grew up as a child in the nineties, giving me a chance to be exposed to some of the best commercial theme tunes to ever be produced in corporate and consumer history. After watching a YouTube Poop by the user SSBMEXPERT, I remembered just how cool the Mentos theme is. For Half an hour I serched for the commercial with this particular song. This vid has the song at too low a pitch-that one, not the right singer.
