  • What would you reccomend as a commutung bike for a begginner something on the cheap side any ideas?

  • @kse6063 - I would recommend going to a couple different local bike shops and getting their opinions, then do some comparing -- there are so many options out there I don't think I could give you the best recommendations in this venue

  • I love your mirrored glasses. I have mirror on my left handlebar. Does it work well and can it be attached to your wind goggles? I need an actual road bike. Right now I have a cruiser. Which is nice(see it on my channel) but, it's heavy! Living in foothills makes it seem to go very slow. Although my speed/odometer says I'm going 12. My old bike could go 55.

  • My mirror is completely detachable and I love it. It moves to just about any position I want, and it tilts up and down as well as sideways. The glasses I wear also have interchangeable lenses, so I can go from gray to amber to clear, depending on the conditions. They are Smith Moab 2's, which sadly are no longer made.

  • beautiful video!

    you're an inspiration.

I started commuting a few months ago, for the same reason as you, but here in sunny California, i hardly have to deal with the trials of weather, just traffic and hostile drivers. But i love it.

Do you mind me asking what kind of gear you carry through your ride? It seems like quite a lot!

  • I really don't carry much in my pannier - just my wallet, lunch, clothes for the day....winter sweaters and extra rain gear can add to that. I also have a tool pouch attached to the top tube - it has a spare inner tube, patch kit, small first aid kit, tools. I have a high-powered light with detachable battery, a bell, and a pump also attached. It may seem like a lot, but all are really necessary if you want to be self-reliant. The bell is especially useful on the bike trail!

  • @Charles2337

Me too but now I am forced to bike. No vehicle.

  • @kse6063 get a $100 mountain bike and slab a 66 cc engine kit on it for $130 and u ge t 100 mpg and u move at 35 mph or more depending of gears heheh thats the way to do it

  • I'm too impatient and lazy for bike commuting x)

    I'd rather use a motorcycle.

  • it's not cheap, but I recommend a Brompton if you are commuting. mine has a rear rack and bag that is made for the rear rack as well as a bag that fits onto the handlebars...i think i have about 40 liters of cargo capacity, and that doesn't even include a backpack. when you get to the office, you fold up the bike and put it under the desk. on your way home you can stop by the store and buy groceries

  • and she doesn't look bad in tights.

  • With that kind of ride, I wouldn't even go to work.

  • Very inspiring vidceo. Those of us that already ride know the truth of it all. Pitty we didn't have tidy safe roads here (Wales) I used to cycle 12 miles to work but now I am retired, I still ride most days.It has kept me fit and young.

  • Good on you
