Being on Disability is only a temporary thing. Yet many people take advantage of their social security benefits by only working very little hours in the week, or not work at all, only to tell SSA that they need more time to 'recover'. There are also several drug addicts and alcoholics, who are on Disability, that spend their entire checks on drugs and alcohol. And yet it is hard for people, who really need social security benefits, to even get approval.

Wouldn't it be better to help people get back to work? I've seen so many people who won't work on recovery because they've got a disability case pending. I know some people really need help, but for many people a disability check is the most disabiling thing that can happen to them.

@PamelaRP Keep in mind some disabilities are mental and don't show any physical trouble, but you are right about the fraud. Most people with mental disabilities aren't going to be able to handle the stress of going threw the application process, so just keep living with it. Really, who runs to their doctor every time they had to skip work because of their disability? If you have enough money to do that then I'm assuming you don't need to be on disability.

The entire SS system is nothing but a big fraud. The system is unfair and people who have been fighting it for 12 1/2 years like me cannot get the help that they need due to all of the fraud in the system. I cannot walk at all and have severe arthritis and cannot get SS at all. I meet people all the time that have nothing physically wrong and are getting more than one check and they jump off the bus and use no cane or anything. You know who you are lady in Cornelius Oregon. You will get caught.

@researchfiend Most people don't work for free so this would make sense that you are being charged. Unfortunately, most claimants don't have any idea of what goes into winning your case to begin with. You also forgot to mention that you are charged only if we win! Also a claimant could win benefits dated back of the onset date, which means a lump sum to you the claimant. Hope this helps you so you don't stop yourself from moving forward with a claim because you don't want to pay for help.

@PamelaRP Are you being represented now? Maybe we can help.

@zakzues if you have not worked more than 30 days at any one job, it is not considered work credit towards social security disability. Supplemental security income would only be applicable to your alleged condition. What are your conditions?

There is real stress getting denied 4 times and cannot walk and have severe arthritis and depression and CANNOT GET SS at all. The fraud and abuse in the system is rampent and most people that get it are NOT DISABLED. I used to work with someone in an office that is now getting SS and walks better than me and would not tell me what she is getting it for. I did not know you can get it without a diagnosis with something serious. This person I know is not disabled in my book and is frauding SS.
mars; w/ SSI,it's all about the Household Members'Income--but, if the members aren't related/not married, etc., then, their incomes dont count. you'll need to spell out each persons' income according to their legal relationship to you. consult ssa.gov or your local SSA ofc. Don
