This fabulous pair of eagle rays were seen at the Negril dive site Snapper Drop at 09:54 on 13th October 2006 while diving with the Couples Swept Away dive team. The depth was about 60 feet. Notice that one of the eagle rays has lost its 'stinger'. Notice also the pair of ramoras following the eagles rays. Contrary to the impression created by the tragic death of Steve Irvin, rays are in fact shy and docile creatures and will usually (and sensibly) avoid human contact.
