absolutely fantastic cars. One of the best cars ever made really, there maybe better modern cars, but in 1989 the car was amazing - the r8 200 was like it was from another world when compared to, well.... ANY other manufacturers rival cars. Astra, Escort and Golf of the time are skips compared to the Rover

@ziloid You obviously have not owned or even driven both of them! The Rover version IS the superior version. Way way more classy and with nicer/better engines.
And as said......you obviously are not aware that Rover built the Honda version too, in the Rover factory?

@ziloid The Rover was a very good car, my uncle had 1. It did 127k miles before the HG went and never had any other issues other than a wheel bearing at about 85k. He scrapped when a lady drove into the side of it.
You see so many of them now aswell still, many more than the same age Astras, Escorts or other similar size cars from the period.

@ziloid Absolutely right. The wiring, and electric system was put together by chimpanzees. The final straw for me was when the front headlight lens simply fell out. I got rid quick and went back to Vauxhall.

I had a 214 SLI and it was a dream car!! So sad that a wonderful marquee and part of motoring history was allowed to die:(

Did you know that Honda's version was produced in Rover's factory?
I had both, a Concerto 1.6i-16 and a Rover 216 Coupé. Both very good.
