Lego Antikythera Mechanism

The Antikythera Mechanism: http://bit.ly/fm4oFK is the oldest known scientific computer, built in Greece at around 100 BCE. Lost for 2000 years, it was recovered from a shipwreck in 1901. But not until a century later was its purpose understood: an astronomical clock that determines the positions of celestial bodies with extraordinary precision. 

In 2010, we built a fully-functional replica out of Lego.

Coming back from the Antikythera Mechanism exhibition in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens I have to say that although this is quite an impressive work of "legomanship" it is much bigger than the estimated original one. Just pointing it out. Video, music and the lego idea is amazing.

This is more impressive than the original in a way, because you are limited by the fixed sizes of the cogs, the original builders to make their own cogs to the required sizes.
