compiz-fusion will do that. under General Options -> Opacity Settings, make entries for the following: type=DropDownMenu and type=PopupMenu, and set them to 90 or so, for a decent balance between translucency and legibility.

does ubuntu 7.10 already come w/ compiz fusion?? i want to have all these cool eye candy effects, but i dont want to enter all that computer code. so does all these effects which you have here all ready come w/ ubuntu 7.10 or do i have to download some other stuff???

ubuntu 7.10 comes with the program that does all those special effects. i am a nooblinux user and it is easy to do those stuff. there are online guides to help you too if you dont know wat your doin.. oh you just need to install awn to get the dock on the bottom but that too was easy with the online cut and paste cammands

If linux one day gett look like that (basic version) i will migrate from windows. For us who are not linux expert's but want to join comunity and have cool stuff like in this video it is wery hard becouse to make that shi* need time...

Your stuff is setup so nice. I have gutsy installed on my pc, but I was wondering how you got AWN and the desklets setup like you did.If there are any websites that will show me how to get it all hooked up like that I will gladly read it myself. If you would mind pointing me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
